2023 vs 2024 BMW X5: An Overview

BMW first launched the X5 more than 20 years ago, making it BMW’s first crossover SUV. Over the last two decades, this impressive vehicle has become more powerful and efficient and has added a number of luxury features that have only improved the X5’s appeal. Each redesign has added something new, and from advancements to capabilities and performance to design updates that make you want to spend more time in your car, there is a lot to look forward to with the BMW X5.

This mid-sized luxury SUV is refined and luxurious, offering plenty of choices for drivers looking to customize their ride. The interior of the cabin is comfortable and technology-rich, featuring premium materials and cleverly integrated tech in the form of a sleek curved digital display that stretches nearly the length of the dashboard.

As we are now in a new year, a new X5 model year has come out. But what changes has BMW made from the previous model year? We’ve made your job simple with a comparison between these two model years.

What is the difference between the X5 2023 and 2024?

BMW made significant changes with the 2024 BMW X5, setting a new standard for luxury SUVs. The BMW X5 exterior upgrades to cultivate a muscular and athletic design, including a redesigned and illuminated front kidney grille and bumper, new headlights and taillights, and updated wheel designs.

When it comes to the machine under the hood, both the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine and the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine reap the rewards of a newly designed 48-volt hybrid system. Additionally, the six-cylinder engine has been boosted to further output, managing 375 horsepower.

All 2024 BMW X5s also come equipped with a new standard curved infotainment display and BMW's latest iDrive 8 software interface. As an available option, the X5 also boasts Highway Assistant hands-free driving.
