BMW XM | The Newest SUV

Price and Specs
While the price tag starts at $159,995 for the new XM, the 2 row crossover SUV comes loaded with high quality materials and luxury features. But, to start, we can say that the XM is a plug-in hybrid SUV that takes heavy sport inspiration. In terms of the engine, the XM boasts 644 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, all channeled through a 4.4L twin turbocharged V8 engine that packs a powerful punch. In terms of those luxury features, some that you can look forward to include leather upholstery, 23 inch wheels, a curved infotainment display, as well as many drive assist features that we will dive into a little later.Capability and Range
The XM is heavily performance focused. With several different modes, the comfort driving mode handles as a surprisingly compliant ride, while the sport mode features handling that is responsive and eager, making twists, turns, and curves quite a bit of fun to go around. One estimate of capability put the XM able to zoom from standstill to 60 mph in around 3.5 seconds. In terms of the hybrid electric engine, the XM has an estimated range of 30 miles of electric-only driving on the 25.7 kWh battery.The bonus is that the plug-in electric charges up to one hundred percent battery power in only a little over three hours, so a charge doesn’t take long but lasts long enough to get you where you’re going. While the EPA hasn’t yet released an estimate for the XM’s fuel efficiency, we aren’t expecting a gas guzzler. Even though the XM is a big, high performance hybrid SUV, it should still boast a very reasonable fuel efficiency.
Interior
The cabin of the XM is high end with premium materials. There is the option of vintage leather upholstery, which can add warmth and class to the interior. You can also choose between a large panoramic sunroof and the available geometric patterned faux-suede headliner that features fiber-optic lighting that can add mood lighting to your ride. The interior also features a huge infotainment system. A large, curved display covers two thirds of the dashboard and serves not only as an onboard infotainment system, but a digital gauge cluster as well.
Safety and Warranty
Last but not least, you can expect to find quite a few safety features both standard and available on the BMW XM. Automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist will be standard on all XM models. Other features, while may not be standard, are certainly available, such as an adaptive cruise control system with a lane-centering feature, are available too.
